Tasting Notes : The wine is ripe and fruity on the nose. The palate displays concentrated cherry fruit, with a hint of violets, refined texture & a long finish.
Food Pairing : Match with tomato-based pasta dishes, grilled red meats, stuffed red peppers. Is it too good to have with pizza? Of course not!
More info : This wine is sourced from family-owned Castello di Querceto in the heart of the Chianti region. Italian wines from some of the lesser-known wine regions such as Puglia are increasing in popularity at the moment, but you can't beat the classics! Produced from predominantly Sangiovese grapes, Chianti is characterised by juicy dark cherry fruit, smokey oak and quite a firm acidity. Six months' ageing in oak brings added complexity to this wine. The cockerel on the label denotes a wine from the Classico region, located between Florence and Siena.
Winery : The vineyards of this estate extend around the ancient Querceto castle, which dates back to the 16th century, and has been owned by the Francois family since 1897. The family produce a range of high quality Chianti wines in their modern, well-equipped cellar and manage their vineyards carefully, using organic fertilisers and natural pest control to protect the environment.
