Gorgorito Verdejo, Bodegas Copaboca, Rueda, Case of 6 bottles

Country : Spain

Grape Variety : Verdejo

Case of 6 bottles

A fresh, crisp and aromatic white from the cool vineyards of Rueda in Northern Spain. The bird on the label represents the nature reserve where the grapes are sustainably grown.

Tasting Note : Light and zesty, with fresh citrus aromas on the nose. The wine has a nice balance on the palate, with hints of green spices and lemon fruit, and a crisp, refreshing finish.

Food Pairing : Prawn salad; moules marnieres; pasta with chicken. Or on its own while you are watching a film.

More info : Rueda is a DO for whites only, the predominant grape here being the native Verdejo. Located in the province of Vallodolid in North East Spain, the continental climate and high altitude of the vineyards results in wines which are characterised by their crispness and aromatic character. Verdejo has some similarities to Sauvignon, so is a nice alternative if you fancy a change, but has a bit more richness and green spice to it, especially when it has been aged on its lees.

Winery : Bodegas Copaboca own 135 hectares of vineyard in the middle of the Riberas de Castronuno-Vega del Duera Nature Reserve. Because of this they are at pains to show particular care and respect for their environment, and the sustainable viticultural practices they follow allow the wines to be classified as 'Natural Brand of Castilla y Leon'.  No chemicals are used in the vineyards, and the winery is modern and innovative – including the imaginative labelling!
