An intriguing blend of Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Viognier and Semillon, juicy tropical fruits just burst from the glass. The succulent fruit is balanced by a fresh acidity and heady notes of jasmine. An absolute cracker!
Tasting notes : A beautifully aromatic nose leads on to fantastically fruit-filled palate. Peaches, pink grapefruit, passionfruit and hints of jasmine are underpinned by a citrussy acidity.
Food Pairing : crab; lobster; grilled salmon; fish pie. Hummus and pitta bread.
More info : Argentina is not really known for its whites, and up until recently it was mostly soapy, over-perfumed Torrontes that represented white wine from this country. All change now! Some very elegant Torrontes is now being produced, and other white grape varieties are being used to produce very fresh and fruit-filled whites. This blend of Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Viognier and Semillon is produced from fruit grown in the high altitude, cool climate Uco Valley. The wine is cold fermented in stainless steel before spending 5 months on lees to give it texture and complexity.
Winery : First developed in 1969, Nieto y Senetiner has continued to develop and expand to become one of the country’s foremost wineries. They now own vineyard parcels in most of the best sub-districts of Mendoza, and have refined their style to reflect the power and finesse that can be achieved in this region. Dynamic young winemaker, Santiago Mayorga, has taken the wines to a new level, and was named Young Winemaker of the Year in 2017 by Tim Atkin.
