Beronia Reserva, DOCa Rioja


2011 showed a mild winter with light frosts and scarce rainfall. Budding and flowering took place 10 days earlier than in previous years. July and August were extremely dry therefore Beronia had to carry our a very selective harvest by area and variety. The 2011 vintage was -clasified as Excellent by the Rioja Regulatory Council.


The wine is produced following a selection of the best grapes from the oldest vineyards. e grapes undergo prefermentative maceration followed by a slow and controlled fermentation with periodic pumping over to extract colour and aromas. Following this the wine is aged in mixed oak barrels of American staves and French tops for 19 months to allow paused and harmonic evolution. The American oak gives a sweet character of vanilla and ,coconut while the French oak gives spice, making for the perfect balance. This Reserva was Mbottled in November 2013 and will age in bottle for a minimum of 18 months before being greleased to the market.

Tasting notes:

Beronia Reserva 2011 shows an intense cherry red colour. On the nose attractive aromas of candied fruits and plum marmalade in perfect harmony with sweet chocolate. On the palate a wine with great character showing elegant tannins which give structure and body. A fresh wine which encourages us to keep drinking. Long on the finish with volume.

Serving suggestion:

Perfect served between 150 and 170C. Ideal with red meats, game and roasts. Reccomended consumption from now until 2024.

Grape variety: 93% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano, 2% Mazuelo.

Ageing: 19 months in mixed oak barrels with American staves and French tops.
