From a family-owned Champagne house, this Pinot Noir-dominated blend is great value. Ripe, fresh, stone fruits, hints of toasty brioche and a fresh, mineral finish.

Tasting Note : Fresh notes of flowers and citrus fruits on the nose. The palate is a great balance between freshness and creaminess, with hints of stone fruits, warm bread and green apple.

Food Pairing : The perfect aperitif, well chilled, with nuts, olives and canapés. Can also be enjoyed with grilled white fish or scallops.

More info : Most people have their own favourite Champagne brand, and usually this is based on a mixture of flavour profile, image and habit. However, lesser-known brands can often offer more quality for price, pound for pound, because they don't have such a high-profile marketing spend. This Champagne is produced from a blend of 90% black grapes (Pinots Noir and Meunier), with 10% Chardonnay. The black grapes bring a roundness and structure to the wine, the Chardonnay gives the citrussy freshness on the finish. Ageing for 2-3 years before release allows the yeasty, complex flavours to develop.

Winery  : The Gardet house was founded in the late 1800s by enterprising grocer Charles Gardet. His son, Georges, moved the winery to Chigny-lès-Roses in 1931 and developed the Gardet brand. Now in the hands of the Prieux family, who have a long winemaking tradition of their own, Gardet have continued to produce wines of fantastic quality which offer great value at the price. Continual investment in winemaking equipment ensures that Gardet keep up to date with the most cutting-edge equipment and methods.
