Case of 6 bottles
Fragrant cool climate Pinot Noir from Marlborough. Silky textured, luscious red fruits and hints of subtle smokey oak make this classic Pinot. A fantastic example.
Tasting Note : Ripe fruits of Morello cherry and blackberry come through on the nose. The palate is smooth and silky, with juicy ripe fruits, savoury character and layers of warming spice.
Food Pairing : Poultry dishes; tuna steak; roasted veg. Try with turkey and all the trimmings at Christmas.
More info : This wine is produced from vines grown on the Clos Henri estate in Marlborough. The Pinot Noir is planted on two different types of clay, each of which brings a different mineral element to the wine. Close planting of the vines and dry farming stresses the vines, forcing them to grow their roots deep into the soil resulting in the purest expression of terroir. The wine is carefully vinified to control extraction of colour and phenolics; it is then aged for 12 months in French oak. Clos Henri has been fully certified organic since 2013, using only natural practices from the vineyard through to the winery. Dry farming is practised to reduce, or where possible eliminate, irrigation.
Winery : Ten generations of the Bourgeois family have farmed vines and produced wine at their estate in Chavignol, Loire Valley. Situated right in the heart of the region and enjoying some of the best soils, the estate has grown from its original two hectares to 65 today, thanks to the quality and success of the wines and the enterprising nature of the family. In the year 2000 the Bourgeois family took the bold step of planting in New Zealand's up-and-coming Marlborough area in the foothills of the Wairau Valley. Here they produce wines of elegance and restraint which are true to their French heritage, whilst expressing the unique, exuberant character of New Zealand Sauvignon and Pinot Noir.
