Producer: In 1951, at the age of eighteen, Georges Duboeuf began delivering wine to local restaurants on his bicycle. Since then he has become one of the most important and influential wine producers in France. Often described as the King of Beaujolais, Georges Duboeuf is also its most tireless ambassador. Having pioneered modern winemaking in the region and stoked the fires of the Beaujolais boom with unrivalled vigour, he refuses to rest on his laurels. Duboeuf still tastes hundreds of wines each day, and marshals his enormous range almost single-handed. While flower-label Beaujolais remains his empire’s most recognisable creation, one must remember he is a merchant as well as a winemaker: the company distributes numerous high-quality domaine wines not only from Beaujolais, but also white burgundies, IGPs, and even a Côtes-duRhône.

Vineyard Duboeuf own a tenth of this fifteen-hectare plot, named Clos Reyssier after a former owner. The vineyard is located in the village of Chaintré, where Georges Duboeuf grew up, and where the Duboeuf family can be traced back as far as 1500. The gentle slope where the vines are planted has a south-east exposure; the soil is rich, deep clay-limestone. The grapes are harvested by hand.

Winery The grapes were gently pressed and fermented at 18-22ºC in temperaturecontrolled stainless steel vats. The wine underwent complete malolactic fermentation but spent no time in oak. Taste This wine is vibrant and generous with apple and melon fruit, a creamy mid-palate texture, and a poised, mineral finish.
