Minervois les Chemins des Felines, Pierrick Harang

Country : France

Grape Varieties : Syrah; Grenache.

Lovely Minervois with all the aromatic charm of Southern French reds – supple redcurrant and blackcurrant fruits, with upper notes of violets and the elusive herbal notes of the 'Garrigue'.

Tasting Note : Elegant red and black fruit aromas on the nose. The palate shows dark fruits, spice and pepper, medium body and a long finish.

Food Pairing : Beef stew; tomato-based pasta dishes; char-grilled red meat; lashings of tapenade with crusty bread.

More info : Minervois is an area in the Languedoc where native Southern French grape varieties thrive. This wine is a blend of spicy Syrah with juicy Grenache, and brings all the warmth of the Mediterranean sunshine into the bottle. Produced in the maceration carbonique method for maximum fruit extraction without tannins and harshness, this heady red is easy drinking, full of character and great for any occasion.

Winery : Pierrick Harang is a winemaker with a difference. Having inherited his passion for winemaking from his oenologist father, Pierrick decided that the way forward for him was not to borrow heavily to purchase a winery and all the necessary equipment, but to use his skills to produce his own range of wines – in someone else's cellars. So Pierrick has an agreement with les Celliers Jean d'Alibert, whereby he makes their wines for them, but also vinifies his own wines in their winery. Pierrick's wines are modern and cleanly made, very much fruit-driven in style, with minimal use of oak.
