Vintage:  2012

Vineyard and Viticulture:

The grapes are taken from 3 of Perelada's vineyards - Fincas la Garriga, Espolla and Ponts de Molins hence the name 3 Finques. The vineyards sit at an altitude of 100-150m with South facing slopes. 2012 had a very dry summer which led to decrease in yields but an increase in ripeness and quality of the grapes, drip feed irrigation was used. The average age of the vines is 18 years old, planted at an average density of 3000 vines per hectare on slate slopes and sandy gravel plains, yields average 30hl/ha. The grapes are harvested by hand and machine late in September.

The grapes are sorted manually in the vineyard, de-stemmed and crushed. Fermented in stainless steel tanks for 8 days at 24°C, post maceration follows for 17 days between 20-22°C and the wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation during this time.  The wine is blended and then matured in 70% American and 30% French oak barrels for one year. The wine is fined, filtered and bottled and it is matured in bottle for a minimum of 6 months.

Tasting Notes:

Aromas of red fruits and spices, complemented by ageing notes. In the mouth it is round, fresh, with very fine and ripe tannins. This is a nice, long and enveloping wine.

Serving Suggestion:

Ideal with strong Mediterranean style dishes, grills and mature cheese.
