A very approachable, easy drinking red, with juicy, plummy fruit and succulent, rounded flavours. Wines from the del Pedregal winery always over-deliver on taste and quality.

Tasting Note : Warm red fruits on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied and juicy, with dark plum and cherry flavours and a soft, easy finish.

Food Pairing : Great with easy mid-week meals such as shepherd's pie or sausage casserole. Or why not enjoy with just a simple plate of cheese and crusty bread.

More info : Chile is known for producing great, easy drinking Merlots, but some of the less expensive examples can be a bit lacking in concentration and finish. Well, here is a great exception. This flavoursome, rounded red is produced from grapes grown in the Loncomillo valley, where the del Pedregal family own several different vineyard sites. Each parcel of vines is carefully matched with the best site and microclimate to ensure grapes of optimum ripeness and quality. If New World Merlot is your thing, then this is a fab example at a very accessible price point.

Del Pedregal Winery : Established in 1825, and still family-owned, the latest generation are continuing to focus on vineyard acquisition and investment in the winery. Recent developments mean that the winery can now bottle 5,000 bottles per hour, and the sophisticated new filtration system guarantees consistency of quality.

The family are committed to sustainable viticulture and production, and have recently invested thousands in a waste liquid disposal system which is environmentally friendly.
