Syrah Delas Freres Coteaux De L'Ardeche

Vintage: 2014

Country:  France

Region : Ardèche

Appellation: Coteaux de l’Ardèche

Grape : 100% Syrah

Closure: Synthetic cork

Producer : Many Rhône producers have enjoyed a renaissance in the last decade, and none more so than Delas. The company has history (back to 1836) and land (fourteen prime hectares, including La Landonne and Les Bessards). Since 1997, in the form of Jacques Grange, it has also had a winemaker capable of realising all that potential. Under his influence a more modern ‘boutique’ approach has been taken, and the wines now combine clarity of flavour with hedonistic appeal – surely the ultimate goal for a Rhône producer.

Vineyard : The grapes for this Syrah come from the southern part of the Ardèche region.

Winery : All grapes were destemmed before being put in closed tanks for fifteen days. Extraction is helped by daily pumping over. Fermentation temperatures were capped at 28-30°C. Following pressing and racking, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and maturation in tank.

Taste : Delicious brambly Syrah made with the expertise of a top Rhône producer: masses of berry fruit and black pepper
