Vina Morande, Gran Reserva, Chardonnay, Casablanca Valley

Variety: 100% Chardonnay

Vintage: 2013

RegionCasablanca Valley, Chile

Vineyard and Viticulture:

The fruit comes from the Belén vineyard where the soils are granite clay with quartz, with flat topography and low fertility. The cool temperate climate is influenced by the closeness of the Pacific ocean which allows for slow ripening with high development of aromas and fresh acidity.

The grapes are harvested by hand. 40% are fermented with their skins whilst the remainder is whole cluster pressed to achieve a higher-quality must. Fermentation takes place in 300 and 500 litre barrels and in 4000 litre foudres made of French oak & acacia wood, and the wine remains in them for nine months in all.

Tasting Notes:

Aromas of white-fleshed fruits such as pear floral and citrus notes as well as dried fruit that remind you of toasted hazelnuts. Great freshness and volume on the palate. Delicate with a delicious balance of acidity and fruit, long persistence and elegance.

Serving Suggestion:

Shellfish or fish with an intense flavour such as smoked salmon & swordfish. Also pairs well with chicken.
