Vineyard and Viticulture:
Grapes come from 3 sites in Gualtallary. Vineyards are located 1320 metres above sea level in the highest vine growing zone in Mendoza based at the foot of the Tupungato volcano which is one of the highest peaks in the Andes. The average age of the vines is 8 years with a yield of around 42 hl/ha. Soils are calcareous and due to the free draining soil, low rainfall and sloping vineyards, drip fed irrigation is used when necessary alongside
After sorting manually in the vineyard the grapes are destemmed but not crushed followed by a pre-fermentation maceration lasting for four days. Wild yeast facilitates fermentation in concrete tanks at 24-28°C and this lasted 15 days. Post fermentation maceration lasted for 30 days. The wine was matured for 15 months in 2-4 year old French oak barrels with lees contact for 6 months of this time and underwent malolactic fermentation. After filtering the wine was matured in the bottle for 6 months prior to release.
An elegant bouquet of dark red fruits with floral notes. The palate is powerful with intense notes of ripe blackberries, dark chocolate and a hint of vanilla.
