This is a richly full-bodied red from Jumilla in Southern Spain. Full, ripe, concentrated black fruit flavours and well integrated toasty, vanilla oak. Organic and Vegan. The label is a real talking point!
Tasting Note : Bright purple in colour, with full red and black fruits on the nose, and hints of violets. On the palate the wine is rich and full, smooth in texture, with ripe blackberry and black plum fruit and hints of vanilla.
Food Pairing : beef burgers; sausage casserole; shepherd’s pie; veggie chilli.
More info : Located in South East Spain, Jumilla is an area of extremes – hot summers (over 40 deg), cold winters (below zero) and very little rainfall. This climate stresses the vines resulting in low yields and concentrated grapes. The main grape grown here is Monastrell (also known as Mourvedre in France), which requires a hot climate to ripen properly, so thrives in this area. This wine from Finca Bacara demonstrates just what Monastrell can do in the right hands.
Winery : Finca Bacara is a winery which is focussed on sustainability and caring for the environment now and for future generations. Many of their vineyards are organic, and their range of different styles of Monastrell reflect the terroir in which they are grown. The various vineyard parcels are vinified separately and aged for different lengths of time in American oak to give a variety of styles of wine. Their highly imaginative labels paint a picture of a dystopian world where humans have destroyed the environment. 3015 is a look ahead to the next century, when humans have destroyed their resources and are depending on creatures and nature to give them shelter.
