A great expression of Ozzie Shiraz from the Campbell family. Full bodied and spicy, concentrated blackberry fruit, ripe yet well balanced, with deep flavours of cocoa, black pepper and hints of liquorice. A big mouthful, but won’t blow your head off!

Food Pairing : Beef chilli; lamb tagine; peppered steak; nut roast; char-grilled red meats and veg.

More info : Produced exclusively from grapes grown on the Bobbie Burns vineyard in Rutherglen, this wine was aged for 12 months in premium French and American barrels, after 6-8 days’ maceration on the skins. The vines are grown on the unique Rutherglen loam, which brings an elusive earthy quality to the wines, and careful clonal selection by viticulturist, Malcolm Campbell, ensures that the very best vines for the area are selected. Long, warm autumn days give the grapes every opportunity to reach optimum ripeness without becoming over-ripe. Quality at the expense of quantity is right at the heart of the Campbells’ viticultural philosophy.

Winery : Campbells is a winery with real heritage and history. Established in 1870 by John Campbell, who originally came to the area to dig for gold, it is the fourth and fifth generations who are now running the vineyards and winery. Current winemakers, Colin and daughter Julie, enjoy the privilege of having the very best raw materials to work with, and use all their skill to let the grapes express themselves. Oak is used judiciously to enhance but not overpower the fruit flavours, and the barrels are stored in air-conditioned cellars for perfect ageing conditions. Campbell’s are famous not only for their fine reds, but their absolutely stonking dessert Muscats, which age in some cases for over 20 years. These wines are a class apart.
