Food pairing: Simple meat dishes such as roast chicken, sausages or pork kebabs; roasted Mediterranean vegetables; grilled halloumi.
More info : This delicious red is produced from the Garnacha grape (also known as ‘Grenache’ in France), grown in the vineyards of the arid and rocky region of Carinena in Aragon, Northern Spain. Low rainfall, cold winters and hot summers all contribute to the concentration of flavours in the grapes grown in this area. The thin-skinned Garnacha has a high juice-to-skin ratio, which means the wines tend to be lighter in colour and tannins and soft and juicy in style. The flavours absolutely burst from the glass in this delicious red, full of bright and bubbly (not literally) personality.
Winery : Bodegas San Valero is a co-operative winery, which has grown from the original 60 to over 700 members – sometimes (quite) big can be beautiful! Sustained investment in the winery has resulted in ultra-modern facilities which produce high-quality, consistent wines which deliver way above their price point.
Winemakers are Hugh Ryman, well-known international winemaker and graduate of the Bordeaux Wine School, and local expert Jesus Prieto. They ensure that the best vineyard parcels are used, and picking is carried out at the optimum time. 30-year-old vines guarantee a level of complexity and character in the wine.
