Description
This is a mouth-filling Chassagne Montrachet which will delight those that love a richer style of Chardonnay but still do not want something heavy. A buttery yet floral wine with great minerality. Citrus flavours of lemon and orange, with a hint of spice. A great accompaniment for fish and hard or blue cheeses and poultry.
The dynamic Sylvain Morey only has a few Burgundy vintages under his belt (the first was 2014), but he is no newcomer. Sylvain is the son of Jean-Marc Morey of Chassagne-Montrachet and the brother of Caroline Morey (married to cult wine producer Pierre-Yves Colin or PYCM as trendy Burgundian lovers call him). His confident, thoughtful nature can be felt in the wines. He likes wines that are fully expressive but still taut and mineral. This Chassagne Village wine comes from three plots, is well rounded in nature with good acidity, structure, and freshness. Orange zest and some floral notes support the flinty minerality. Intense and powerful for a mere “village” level wine.
