Description
Country : Italy
Grape Variety : Vernaccia
Case of 6 bottles
A dry, nutty white, with ripe stone fruit flavours and floral notes, from Chianti producers Castello di Querceto.
Tasting Note : Delicate fruit on the nose, slightly floral. The palate is flavoursome and dry, with delicate dried fruits, citrus flavours and a hint of almond.
Food Pairing : Pasta with creamy sauces; grilled or fried white fish; super cheesy macaroni cheese.
More info : Produced from Vernaccia grapes grown in the Querceto vineyards in the hills surrounding San Gimignano, the wine was cool fermented in stainless steel tanks before ageing in tank prior to release. Tuscany is famous for the production of Chianti, but whites from San Gimignano have been increasing in popularity in recent years. Very different in style from international varietals such as Sauvignon, the whites from this area offer a completely different flavour profile with their nuttiness and hints of bitter almonds (in a good way!).
Winery : The vineyards of this estate extend around the ancient Querceto castle, which dates back to the 16th century, and has been owned by the Francois family since 1897. The family produce a range of high quality Chianti wines in their modern, well-equipped cellar and manage their vineyards carefully, using organic fertilisers and natural pest control to protect the environment.
