Description
Country : France
Grape Varieties : Chardonnay; Pinot Noir; Pinot Meunier.
One of our buyer’s favourite Champagnes, this is an elegant style, with a high proportion of Chardonnay in the blend. Delicacy and finesse characterise this wine; the citrus notes from the Chardonnay are rounded out by lengthy ageing in the cellars, which brings toasty, yeasty, complex flavours to the wine.
Tasting Note : Delicate nose of white flowers and citrus fruits. On the palate the Champagne is fresh and delicate, with a very fine, persistent mousse. A fine seam of citrussy acidity underpins the brioche and stone fruit notes.
Food Pairing : Perfect as an aperitif; to celebrate anything, even just Friday night; enjoy with light fish dishes; oysters; roasted nuts.
More info : La Cuvée was introduced into the Laurent-Perrier range in 2017 to replace the Brut Non Vintage. The idea was to stay true to the house style of ‘purity, freshness and elegance’, but to ramp it up a notch. By using even higher quality grapes, increasing the proportion of Chardonnay in the blend, extending the period of ageing on lees and reducing the ‘dosage’ (sugar content) the quality has definitely been taken to an even higher level. There are no less than an impressive 100 different Cuvées in this blend, which is an absolute joy of deliciousness.
Winery : Founded in 1812, Laurent-Perrier has a long and impressive history behind it. It came into the hands of the de Nonancourt family in 1939, and it was son Bernard who really transformed this Champagne house. Bernard acquired the master blender from Lanson, and set about building up relationships with some of the best grape growers of the region. He developed the brand, and established Laurent-Perrier’s reputation as one of the top Grande Marque houses. It is still majority-owned by the de Nonancourt family today.
