Deliciously crisp and well-balanced, with juicy, rounded, peachy flavours balanced by a mouth-tingling, citrussy freshness. Chardonnay, but not as we know it!
Tasting Note : The nose is enticingly peachy and fresh. The palate has a soft, silky texture, with flavours of exotic fruits and a refreshing, lemony finish.
Food Pairing : Lovely to sip in the garden without food; or pair with fish pie; mussels; fried fish; grilled halloumi.
More info : This is a wine whose focus is on freshness and fruit. The grapes, grown in the rolling hills of the Conca de Barbara area of Catalonia, are harvested in the cool of the night to retain their freshness, and fermented in stainless steel at low temperatures. The wine is left on its lees for several months to bring added texture and complexity. No oak is used at any point.
Winery : Clos Montblanc was established in 1988 by the Carbonell Figueres family with the aim of producing modern, international wines that remain in touch with their Spanish roots. There are many state-of-the-art, pioneering wineries in Spain, but this is one of the most impressive we have seen! Gleaming stainless steel tanks abound, the equipment is cutting edge, and the barrel hall for ageing the red wines is vast. Winemaker Josep Vadri brings his expertise gained in France, Australia and Chile to produce fruit-driven, clean and eminently drinkable wines.
