Tasting Note : Fresh citrus notes on the nose; on the palate the wine has a fine mousse, citrus and apple fruit, overlaid by hints of warm brioche. The whole is underpinned by a fine seam of acidity, with a long, elegant, mineral finish.

Winery : Established by co-founders Trevor Clough and Jason Humphries, Digby was named after quintessentially English Sir Kenelm Digby, 17th Century philosopher, patron of the arts and pirate (!), who invented the modern wine bottle in the 1630s. Trevor and Jason decided to go down the more unusual path – for English sparkling wine – of following the negociant model rather than sourcing their wines from one vineyard site, allowing them to place the art of blending right at the heart of their winemaking process. Working with vineyards in Hampshire, Sussex and Kent, Trevor is head blender and uses the diversity of the vineyard sites to ensure continuity of quality and style in his wines.
Using the Champagne grapes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, Digby is striking its own unique house style and is building up a following both in the UK and abroad.
