Fresh and crisp, a bone dry white from the vineyards of the Pays Nantais near the French Atlantic coast. This wine is produced from a small parcel of vines on a family-owned estate. Planning to have seafood? – look no further!
Tasting Note : Citrus and mineral notes on the nose. On the palate the wine is vibrantly dry, with hints of grapefruit, a firm seam of acidity and a refreshing finish.
Food Pairing : Shellfish, plain grilled white fish e.g. lemon sole, light salads.
More info : Produced from the little-known Melon de Bourgogne grape, Muscadet is widely considered one of the best wines to pair with oysters. But it’s not just a one-trick pony. Its very dry style, with hints of citrus and bags of minerality, makes it a great blank canvas for most shellfish and seafood. When you go to France and see the locals tucking into great plates of ‘fruits de mer’, this is the type of white they will be drinking. Muscadet is unique in having a maximum permitted alcohol level (12%) to protect its lightness and elegance of style.
Winery : Domaine du Manoir is one of two vineyard parcels owned by the Poiron family in the commune of Maisdon sur Sevre. Now headed up by 8th generation Eric Poiron, the estate focuses on producing wines that are true to the tradition of the area, and practises an integrated farming system to help conserve the environment. Thanks to the advantageous aspect of the vineyard, Domaine du Manor produces wine which is unusually fragrant and fruity for the region.
