Portugal in a glass: a world of difference

Enjoy some unusual Spring Summer Ports and favourite light wines

If you think port is just something to drink at Christmas and pass around (to the left) at Christmas, join us for a taste experience! and some surpiring new ideas on what to do with port – tawny, white and rose!

We also look at some of our favourite but perhaps lesser known wines from Portugal that are ideal for a summer drink with friends.

Port wine is a Portuguese fortified wine produced with distilled grape spirits exclusively in the Douro Valley in the northern provinces of Portugal.   We all know this as a Christmas drink, after dinner and passing it to the left, decanting over a candle, if not the older aunt drinking it “with lemon”…but  as a cocktail ingredient?  As a light Summer aperitif?

Vinho Verde is a much under rated wine as are many other Portuguese wines.

Port for a Spring day? Yes – white and rose ports chilled- perfect!

The Portuguese tend to keep most of their wine for themselves! And we know why. We explore some of the wines that we don’t usually get to drink here in the UK – and there are some surprises.
